From social media to online streaming and shopping platforms, media and screens are more present in our lives than ever before. Words like “selfie” and “binge-watching” didn’t exist a few years ago. There is no doubt that, in some regard, digital technologies have made our lives easier, more productive and entertaining; and that is why they are here to stay. However, as these technologies become ever more proficient at hooking our attention, many of us are starting to realize that we are more and more mindlessly consuming an increasing amount of content, and are left feeling more anxious, addicted, distracted and time crunched. How can we regain mastery over how we want to spend our time, and ultimately, our lives?
From this interactive workshop, participants will take away:
- The latest science on the psychological tricks and mechanisms that technologies use to hook our attention, and the adverse consequences they have on our lives
- How mindfulness-based practices can help us regain control over how we want to spend our time
- Clarity on how mindfulness can help us better manage our digital wellbeing
- Practical tools to design a healthier digital environment
